As a friend to Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld, Hecate is allowed to go to and from the Underworld while Persephone spends her months there with Hades. Thus, Hecate acts as a guide to and an intermediary with the Underworld. She rules over the dark passages in life, especially those that leave us at transformative crossroads.
Hecate is the keeper of wisdom, teacher of the wise, and guardian of those rejected or abandoned by society. She presides over magick, ritual, prophetic vision, childbirth, death, and the secrets of regeneration. She is a triple goddess who is generous with her powerful gifts of maiden energy, motherly guidance, and crone wisdom. She holds the powerful energy of the new moon for transition as well as the energy of the full moon for release. She is an independent goddess who, like her cousin Artemis, was unwilling to marry.
Hecate is recognized and honored as the goddess of many contemporary Wiccans, priestesses, and pagans. She is known as Queen of the Night for her connection to the spirit world. She is often invoked for communing with the dead and helping those who need a bridge for loved ones on the other side. Her companions are a black cat and a three-headed dog.

Fiercely powerful and known as the Eater of Filth, this is who the Aztecs confessed their worst deeds to. They made sacrifices in her honor to receive the purifying and regenerative power of the earth. She is the midwife who, through the decomposition of that which no longer serves us, brings life. She proves that anything that overwhelms and destroys also has the power to heal.
Tlazoteotl is the goddess of spinners and weavers. As such, she is a goddess of fertility and sexuality who connects us to the cycle of creation and the ever-changing power of the earth. She is also the patroness of illicit affairs and lust.
The Aztecs would not only go to Tlazoteotl and her priestesses for confession and cleansing, but for advice on when to have relations for procreating. This was to ensure good health and longevity of the child to be conceived. She was invoked at births to cleanse the babies of their parents’ transgressions. Patroness of midwives, doulas, doctors, nurses, and all other healers, she gifts humanity with herbs and magick and was said to be able to heal those gravely ill and near death.
Tlazoteotl ate the errors of her people to restore them to their true selves. Through the destruction and decomposition, she recycles misdeeds in the life-affirming cycle of our lives, destroying with the power to heal and enlighten. Tlazoteotl is that shadow part of ourselves we fear because it is so powerful, but when we work with her energy, we can find absolute mercy and compassion.
TLAZOTEOTL’S MESSAGE: It is time to transform and restore your physical body, a broken relationship, or anything that needs to be changed to better serve you on your path. it is time to face your shadow self, those things that have you entangled in toxic shame, guilt, or despair. They can hold you in a place of fear and insecurity and lead you to act in ways that hurt your relationship with yourself and others. Lalita was the leader of an army of female warriors, one of the most feared in the land. One day when they were under attack, she found all her soldiers asleep and they could not be woken. Lalita opened her mouth, not to scream, but to laugh, and it was then that she gave birth to Ganesh. He helped her break the spell that had caused her soldiers to sleep, and they won the battle.
Lalita desires perfect harmony and compassion amongst all human beings. To this end, she manifested the great saints who emerged from her fingertips to restore righteousness on Earth.
