I can hear the groans now. Please, not another bible-thumping born-again Christian proclaiming the glories of God. Yeah, I know. I used to roll my eyes when presented with the explanation from someone who had “found God” or had accepted Jesus into their heart within the confines of organized religion.
It’s kind of funny that every time I attended a church service over the years of my life, I never felt the presence of God within the building. I expected God to be present at the service and yet I felt him not. Maybe it was something that was lacking in me. Perhaps my heart was so conditioned by what I was told about God as I was growing up. I never could reconcile my aversion to God when I saw the way people treated others when they were not in church, as if God could not see how judgmental and critical their actions were.
Eventually God met me where I could feel the presence of the Divine. It was out in nature that I met God. The essence of the Creator of all was all around me as the energies of Spring brought forth a glorious array of plants and creatures. I remember thinking at the time, why would God want to be in some building that was built by man and not out enjoying the products of his/her labors?
The biggest lie that is promoted by almost all organized religions is that God is “somewhere out there”. We are led to believe that God sits off-planet on a cloud or in heaven, that God watches us from afar keeping track of who sins and who doesn’t. The doctrines put forth as The Truth exist only to keep control of people for the sake of supporting whichever religion they choose to support.
God isn’t out there somewhere. God is as close as your own heart within the presence of the god-spark that gave you life. The god you seek and need has always been in your heart, the seat of love and wisdom. This is where your connection exists and where you have complete access to your Creator. This is where your spiritual union, communion, takes place. Your ability to communicate with God opens and expands by your willingness to meet your Creator in your heart.
To activate your personal relationship with God, in whatever form you choose to see God, go within. Let your consciousness drop down into your heart. Express your desire to have a conversation with the original creator of your soul. Sit in the silence of your heart space with a quiet mind and wait. You will know the voice when it connects with you. Always respond with gratitude, let God know how much you appreciate all that is done for you each and every day. Ask for what you desire and know that it will be done for you to the extent that you have faith and trust in the Divine Plan for your life.
With persistence and faith, your experience in connecting with God will be a relationship that is far beyond anything any religion has promised you. To feel your creator within your heart and conversing with this amazing entity, is to know that you are loved and truly never alone.
